‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ الزُّهْرِيُّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏وَعَمِّي ‏ ‏قَالَا ثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عُمَرُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ الْوَجِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏خَرَجَ مَعَ جَنَازَةِ ‏ ‏ثَابِتِ بْنِ الدَّحْدَاحَةِ ‏ ‏عَلَى فَرَسٍ أَغَرَّ ‏ ‏مُحَجَّلٍ ‏ ‏تَحْتَهُ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ سَرْجٌ مَعَهُ النَّاسُ وَهُمْ حَوْلَهُ قَالَ فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ حَتَّى فُرِغَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَقَعَدَ عَلَى فَرَسِهِ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ يَسِيرُ حَوْلَهُ الرِّجَالُ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ go out with the funeral of Thabit ibn al-Dahdahah riding a grey horse with white markings on its legs, with no saddle on it, and the people were around him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dismounted and performed the funeral prayer over him, then he sat until the burial was completed. Then he stood and mounted his horse and rode away, with the men walking around him.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ الزُّهْرِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَمِّي ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شَرِيكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَخْطُبُ قَاعِدًا قَطُّ فَلَا تُصَدِّقْهُ قَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مِائَةِ مَرَّةٍ فَرَأَيْتُهُ ‏ ‏يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ فَلَا يَتَكَلَّمُ بِشَيْءٍ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ خُطْبَتَهُ الْأُخْرَى قُلْتُ كَيْفَ كَانَتْ خُطْبَتُهُ قَالَ كَانَتْ ‏ ‏قَصْدًا ‏ ‏كَلَامًا يَعِظُ بِهِ النَّاسَ وَيَقْرَأُ آيَاتٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'Whoever tells you that he saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering the khutbah while seated, do not believe him. I saw him more than a hundred times and he would deliver the khutbah standing, then sit, then stand again and deliver the second khutbah.' He was asked: 'How was his khutbah?' He said: 'It was moderate — words with which he admonished the people and recited verses from the Book of Allah, the Exalted.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عِمْرَانُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَحْمَدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خَالِدٍ الْوَهْبِيَّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏قَيْسٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏لَتَفْتَحَنَّ ‏ ‏عِصَابَةٌ ‏ ‏مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ‏ ‏أَبْيَضَ ‏ ‏آلِ ‏ ‏كِسْرَى ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: A band of Muslims will conquer the white palace of Khosrow.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عُمَرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏مَا رُئِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَخْطُبُ إِلَّا قَائِمًا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was never seen delivering the khutbah except while standing.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو دَاوُدَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ جَلَسَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ لَمْ يَرْجِعْ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Prophet ﷺ, when he prayed Fajr, would sit in his place of prayer and not leave until the sun had risen.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏قَاسِمُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُصْعَبٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمِقْدَامِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَقْرَأُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ آيَاتٍ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ وَيُذَكِّرُ النَّاسَ وَكَانَتْ خُطْبَتُهُ ‏ ‏قَصْدًا ‏ ‏وَصَلَاتُهُ ‏ ‏قَصْدًا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ used to recite Quranic verses in his khutbah, admonish the people, and remind them of the days of Allah.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سَلَمَةُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّعْدِيُّ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَنَا ‏ ‏سَلَمَةَ بْنَ حَفْصٍ ‏ ‏وَكَانَ ‏ ‏يُكَنَّى ‏ ‏أَبَا بَكْرٍ ‏ ‏مِنْ وَلَدِ ‏ ‏سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏أَبْيَضَ الرَّأْسِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ فَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْهُ ‏ ‏أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَتْ أُصْبُعُ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مُتَظَاهِرَةً ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The fingers of the Prophet ﷺ were spread wide.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏جَابِرُ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏لَا يَزَالُ الْإِسْلَامُ عَزِيزًا إِلَى اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ خَلِيفَةً فَقَالَ كَلِمَةً خَفِيَّةً لَمْ أَفْهَمْهَا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي مَا قَالَ قَالَ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ ‏ ‏قُرَيْشٍ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: Islam will remain strong until there are twelve khaliphs.' Then he said something quietly that I could not hear. I asked my father: 'What did he say?' He replied: 'All of them will be from the Quraysh.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏بَيْنَ يَدَيْ السَّاعَةِ كَذَّابُونَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: Before the Hour, there will be great liars.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏مَا كَانَ فِي رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مِنْ الشَّيْبِ إِلَّا شَعَرَاتٌ فِي مَفْرِقِ رَأْسِهِ إِذَا ادَّهَنَ ‏ ‏وَارَاهُنَّ ‏ ‏الدُّهْنُ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'There were only a few white hairs on the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in the parting of his hair. When he oiled his hair, the oil would cover them.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زُهَيْرٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَنْبَأَنِي ‏ ‏جَابِرُ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي ‏ ‏جَابِرٌ ‏ ‏مَنْ نَبَّأَكَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَاعِدًا فَقَدْ كَذَبَ فَقَدْ وَاللَّهِ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَلْفَيْ صَلَاةٍ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Prophet ﷺ delivering the khutbah standing on the minbar, then sitting, then standing and delivering the khutbah standing. He said: 'Jabir said to me: Whoever tells you he used to deliver the khutbah sitting has lied. By Allah, I prayed with him more than two thousand prayers.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو بَكْرٍ خَلَّادُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏أَبَا ثَوْرِ بْنَ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏سُئِلَ عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ فِي ‏ ‏مَبَاتِ ‏ ‏الْغَنَمِ فَرَخَّصَ وَسُئِلَ عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ فِي ‏ ‏مَبَاتِ ‏ ‏الْإِبِلِ فَنَهَى عَنْهُ وَسُئِلَ عَنْ الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ فَقَالَ تَوَضَّئُوا وَسُئِلَ عَنْ الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ فَقَالَ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَتَوَضَّأْ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَلَا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ was asked about praying in sheepfolds, and he permitted it. He was asked about praying in camel pens, and he forbade it. He was asked about performing ablution after eating camel meat, and he said: 'Perform ablution.' He was asked about ablution after eating mutton, and he said: 'If you wish, perform ablution; if you wish, do not.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زَائِدَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ ‏ ‏فَأُصَلِّي فِي ‏ ‏مَرَابِضِهَا ‏ ‏قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنْ شِئْتَ قَالَ أَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ ‏ ‏فَأُصَلِّي فِي ‏ ‏أَعْطَانِهَا ‏ ‏قَالَ لَا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked: 'Do I need to perform ablution after eating mutton?' He said: 'No.' He asked: 'Can I pray in sheepfolds?' He said: 'Yes, if you wish.' He asked: 'Do I need to perform ablution after eating camel meat?' He said: 'Yes.' He asked: 'Can I pray in camel pens?' He said: 'No.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ‏ ‏وَمُؤَمَّلٌ ‏ ‏الْمَعْنَى ‏ ‏وَهَذَا لَفْظُ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ ‏ ‏فَأُصَلِّي فِي ‏ ‏مُرَاحِ ‏ ‏الْغَنَمِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أُصَلِّي فِي ‏ ‏أَعْطَانِهَا ‏ ‏قَالَ لَا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'Do I need to perform ablution after eating mutton?' He said: 'No.' He asked: 'Can I pray in sheepfolds?' He said: 'Yes.' He asked: 'Do I need to perform ablution after eating camel meat?' He said: 'Yes.' He asked: 'Can I pray in camel pens?' ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْأَعْمَشِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏مُسَيَّبُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَهُمْ ‏ ‏حِلَقٌ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ ‏ ‏عِزِينَ ‏ ‏وَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الْمَسْجِدَ وَقَدْ رَفَعُوا أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَقَالَ قَدْ رَفَعُوهَا كَأَنَّهَا ‏ ‏أَذْنَابُ ‏ ‏خَيْلٍ ‏ ‏شُمْسٍ ‏ ‏اسْكُنُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque and saw the people sitting in circles. He said: 'Why do I see you scattered about?' Then he entered the mosque and saw them raise their hands during prayer. He said: 'They raise their hands as if they are tails of wild horses — be still during prayer.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏شُعْبَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ ‏ ‏وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏بَيْنَ يَدَيْ السَّاعَةِ كَذَّابُونَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏فِي حَدِيثِهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏وَكَانَ أَقْرَبَ مِنِّي ‏ ‏فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said — or: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say — Before the Hour, there will be liars. My father was closer to him than me and said: Beware of them.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏شُعْبَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to deliver the Friday khutbah standing, then sit, then stand again.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏شُعْبَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قُلْتُ ‏ ‏لِجَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏كَيْفَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَصْنَعُ إِذَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ قَالَ كَانَ ‏ ‏يَجْلِسُ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Simak asked him: 'What did the Prophet ﷺ do after praying Fajr?' He replied: 'He would sit in his place of prayer until the sun had risen.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ السُّوَائِيَّ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏لَا يَزَالُ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ مَاضِيًا حَتَّى يَقُومَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَمِيرًا ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ خَفِيَتْ عَلَيَّ فَسَأَلْتُ أَبِي مَا قَالَ قَالَ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ ‏ ‏قُرَيْشٍ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah al-Suwa'i (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: This affair will continue to go on until twelve amirs have come. Then he said something quietly that I could not hear. I asked my father: What did he say? He said: All of them will be from the Quraysh.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ ‏ ‏وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا ‏ ‏يَغْشَى ‏ ‏وَفِي الْعَصْرِ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ وَفِي الصُّبْحِ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Zuhr and the night prayer: By the night when it covers, and in Asr something similar, and in Fajr longer than that.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْأَعْمَشُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ رَافِعِي أَيْدِيكُمْ كَأَنَّهَا ‏ ‏أَذْنَابُ ‏ ‏خَيْلٍ ‏ ‏شُمْسٍ اسْكُنُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فَرَآنَا حِلَقًا فَقَالَ مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ ‏ ‏عِزِينَ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ أَلَا تَصُفُّونَ كَمَا تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا قَالَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا قَالَ يُتِمُّونَ الصُّفُوفَ الْأُولَى وَيَتَرَاصُّونَ فِي الصَّفِّ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to them one day and said: 'Why do I see you raising your hands as if they are tails of wild horses? Be still during prayer.' Then he came out to them and saw them in circles. He said: 'Why do I see you scattered about?' Then he came out to them and said: 'Should you not line up as the angels line up before their Lord?' They said: 'How do the angels line up before their Lord?' He said: 'They complete the first rows and stand close together in the row.'

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Let those people cease raising their eyes to the sky during prayer, or their eyes will not return to them.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الشَّعْبِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي ‏ ‏أَوْ ابْنِي ‏ ‏قَالَ وَذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏لَا يَزَالُ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ عَزِيزًا مَنِيعًا يُنْصَرُونَ عَلَى مَنْ ‏ ‏نَاوَأَهُمْ ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ إِلَى اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ خَلِيفَةً ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ أَصَمَّنِيهَا النَّاسُ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي ‏ ‏أَوْ لِابْنِي ‏ ‏مَا الْكَلِمَةُ الَّتِي أَصَمَّنِيهَا النَّاسُ قَالَ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ ‏ ‏قُرَيْشٍ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was with his father — or his son — and mentioned the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'This affair will remain strong and protected, and its people will be granted victory over those who oppose them, until twelve khaliphs.' Then he said something that the crowd drowned out. I asked my father — or my son — : What was the word that the crowd drowned out? He said: 'All of them will be from the Quraysh.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏شُعْبَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَوْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ السَّاعَةِ كَذَّابِينَ قَالَ أَخِي وَكَانَ أَقْرَبَ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ قَالَ فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — or: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said — Before the Hour, there are liars.' His brother said — and he was closer to the Prophet — : 'I heard him say: Beware of them.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُفْيَانَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ جَلَسَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ حَسْنَاءَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he prayed the morning prayer, would sit in his place of prayer until the sun had risen beautifully.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏شُعْبَةَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى سَمَّى ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةَ ‏ ‏طَابَةَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed Allah, Blessed and Exalted, has named Madinah Tabah.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَلِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏نَاصِحٍ أَبِي عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَأَنْ يُؤَدِّبَ الرَّجُلُ وَلَدَهُ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَتَصَدَّقَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ بِنِصْفِ ‏ ‏صَاعٍ ‏ ‏و قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏مَا حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ ‏ ‏نَاصِحٍ أَبِي عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏غَيْرَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'For a man to discipline his child is better for him than giving half a sa' in charity every day.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏زُهَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَأَلْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ ‏ ‏بِ ‏ ‏ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ ‏ ‏وَنَحْوِهَا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Simak asked him about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He replied: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Fajr Surah Qaf and the Glorious Quran, and similar to it.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مِسْعَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ الْقِبْطِيَّةِ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كُنَّا نَقُولُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا سَلَّمْنَا السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ يُشِيرُ أَحَدُنَا بِيَدِهِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَا بَالُ الَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ كَأَنَّهَا ‏ ‏أَذْنَابُ ‏ ‏الْخَيْلِ ‏ ‏الشُّمْسِ أَلَا يَكْفِي أَحَدَكُمْ أَنْ يَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'We used to say behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he gave the salam: Peace be upon you, peace be upon you — while one of us would gesture with his hand to the right and left. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What is the matter with those who throw their hands in prayer as if they are tails of wild horses? Is it not enough for one of you to place his hand on his thigh?'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا وَيَجْلِسُ بَيْنَ الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ ‏ ‏وَيَتْلُو آيَاتٍ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ وَكَانَتْ خُطْبَتُهُ ‏ ‏قَصْدًا ‏ ‏وَصَلَاتُهُ ‏ ‏قَصْدًا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ used to deliver the khutbah standing and sit between the two khutbahs, recite verses from the Quran, and his khutbah was moderate.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ سَبْرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَدِّهِ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏نَهَى أَنْ يُصَلَّى فِي ‏ ‏أَعْطَانِ ‏ ‏الْإِبِلِ وَرَخَّصَ أَنْ يُصَلَّى فِي ‏ ‏مُرَاحِ ‏ ‏الْغَنَمِ ‏

It was narrated from Sabrah ibn Ma'bad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade praying in camel pens and permitted praying in sheepfolds.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ السَّلُولِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَعْفَرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنْ نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ وَأَنْ لَا نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ وَأَنْ ‏ ‏نُصَلِّيَ فِي ‏ ‏مَبَاءَةِ ‏ ‏الْغَنَمِ وَلَا نُصَلِّيَ فِي ‏ ‏أَعْطَانِ ‏ ‏الْإِبِلِ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to perform ablution from camel meat and not to perform ablution from mutton, to pray in the resting places of sheep, and not to pray in camel pens.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي بَيْتِهِ ‏ ‏فَرَأَيْتُهُ مُتَّكِئًا عَلَى وِسَادَةٍ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in his house and found him reclining on a cushion.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أُتِيَ بِفَرَسٍ حِينَ انْصَرَفَ مِنْ جَنَازَةِ ‏ ‏أَبِي الدَّحْدَاحِ ‏ ‏فَرَكِبَ وَنَحْنُ حَوْلَهُ نَمْشِي ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ was brought a horse after he had turned away from the funeral of Abu al-Dahdah. He mounted it while we were walking around him.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلُ ‏ ‏وَشَرِيكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man killed himself and the Prophet ﷺ did not perform the funeral prayer over him.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏رَأَيْتُهَا مِثْلَ بَيْضَةِ الْحَمَامِ وَلَوْنُهَا لَوْنُ جَسَدِهِ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I saw it like a chicken egg, and its color was the color of his body.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏الْمَسْعُودِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏جَاءَ ‏ ‏مَاعِزُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَاعْتَرَفَ عِنْدَهُ بِالزِّنَا قَالَ فَحَوَّلَ وَجْهَهُ قَالَ فَجَاءَ فَاعْتَرَفَ مِرَارًا ‏ ‏فَأَمَرَ بِرَجْمِهِ فَرُجِمَ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ فَأُخْبِرَ فَقَامَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ كُلَّمَا ‏ ‏نَفَرْنَا ‏ ‏فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى تَخَلَّفَ عِنْدَهُنَّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَهُ ‏ ‏نَبِيبٌ ‏ ‏كَنَبِيبِ ‏ ‏التَّيْسِ يَمْنَحُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ ‏ ‏الْكُثْبَةَ ‏ ‏لَئِنْ ‏ ‏أَمْكَنَنِي اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْهُمْ لَأَجْعَلَنَّهُمْ ‏ ‏نَكَالًا ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏جَدِّهِ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَوْ رَجُلًا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِنْ ‏ ‏شِئْتَ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَمِعْت ‏ ‏حَجَّاجَ بْنَ الشَّاعِرِ ‏ ‏يَسْأَلُ أَبِي فَقَالَ أَيُّمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ ‏ ‏عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ‏ ‏أَوْ ‏ ‏الْمُعَيْطِيُّ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ كَانَ ‏ ‏عُمَرٌو النَّاقِدُ ‏ ‏يَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) — through his grandfather — that a man asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, should I perform ablution after eating mutton?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If you wish.' The rest of the hadith was mentioned.

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I and the Hour are like these two — and he indicated with his fingers.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ ‏ ‏وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ ‏ ‏وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ ‏ ‏وَشَبَهَهَا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Zuhr and Asr: By the sky containing great stars, and By the sky and the night visitor.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بِرَجُلٍ قَصِيرٍ أَشْعَثَ ذِي عَضَلَاتٍ عَلَيْهِ ‏ ‏إِزَارٌ ‏ ‏وَقَدْ زَنَى فَرَدَّهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ قَالَ ثُمَّ ‏ ‏أَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كُلَّمَا ‏ ‏نَفَرْنَا ‏ ‏غَازِينَ ‏ ‏فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَخَلَّفَ أَحَدُكُمْ لَهُ ‏ ‏نَبِيبٌ ‏ ‏كَنَبِيبِ ‏ ‏التَّيْسِ يَمْنَحُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ ‏ ‏الْكُثْبَةَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى لَا يُمَكِّنُنِي مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا جَعَلْتُهُ ‏ ‏نَكَالًا ‏ ‏أَوْ ‏ ‏نَكَّلْتُهُ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏فَحَدَّثَنِيهِ ‏ ‏سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّهُ رَدَّهُ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَجَّاجٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أُتِيَ ‏ ‏بِمَاعِزِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ تَخَلَّفَ أَحَدُهُمْ ‏ ‏يُنَبِّبُ ‏ ‏كَنَبِيبِ ‏ ‏التَّيْسِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏فَحَدَّثْتُهُ ‏ ‏الْحَكَمَ ‏ ‏فَأَعْجَبَهُ وَقَالَ لِي مَا ‏ ‏الْكُثْبَةُ ‏ ‏فَسَأَلْتُ ‏ ‏سِمَاكًا ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏الْكُثْبَةِ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ ‏ ‏اللَّبَنُ الْقَلِيلُ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when Ma'iz ibn Malik was brought to him' — and he mentioned the hadith about the stoning.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَنْ ‏ ‏يَبْرَحَ ‏ ‏هَذَا الدِّينُ قَائِمًا يُقَاتِلُ عَلَيْهِ ‏ ‏عِصَابَةٌ ‏ ‏مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'This religion will never cease to stand; a group of Muslims will fight for it until the Hour comes.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏ضَلِيعَ ‏ ‏الْفَمِ ‏ ‏أَشْكَلَ ‏ ‏الْعَيْنِ ‏ ‏مَنْهُوسَ ‏ ‏الْعَقِبَيْنِ ‏ ‏قُلْتُ ‏ ‏لِسِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏مَا ‏ ‏ضَلِيعُ ‏ ‏الْفَمِ قَالَ عَظِيمُ الْفَمِ قُلْتُ مَا ‏ ‏أَشْكَلُ ‏ ‏الْعَيْنِ قَالَ طَوِيلُ ‏ ‏شُفْرِ ‏ ‏الْعَيْنِ قُلْتُ مَا ‏ ‏مَنْهُوسُ ‏ ‏الْعَقِبِ ‏ ‏قَالَ قَلِيلُ لَحْمِ ‏ ‏الْعَقِبِ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a wide mouth, elongated eyes, and little flesh on his heels.' [Simak was asked: What is 'wide-mouthed'? He said: Large-mouthed. He was asked: What is 'elongated eyes'? He said: Long eye-lashes. He was asked: What is 'little flesh on heels'? He said: Little flesh on the heels.]

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَمِعْتُ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏لَتَفْتَحَنَّ كُنُوزَ ‏ ‏كِسْرَى ‏ ‏الْأَبْيَضَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏أَوْ قَالَ الَّذِي فِي ‏ ‏الْأَبْيَضِ ‏ ‏عِصَابَةٌ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I heard the Prophet of Allah ﷺ say: The treasures of Khosrow the White will certainly be conquered by a band of Muslims.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏مَا كَانَ فِي رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مِنْ الشَّيْبِ إِلَّا شَعَرَاتٌ فِي مَفْرِقِ رَأْسِهِ كَانَ إِذَا ادَّهَنَ غَطَّاهُنَّ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'There were only a few white hairs on the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in the parting of his hair. When he oiled them, the oil would cover them.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زَائِدَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقْرَأُ فِي الصُّبْحِ ‏ ‏بِ ‏ ‏ق وَالْقُرْآنِ ‏ ‏وَكَانَ صَلَاتُهُ بَعْدُ تَخْفِيفًا ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in Fajr: Qaf and the Glorious Quran, and his prayer after that was lightened.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ أَكَلَ مِنْهُ وَبَعَثَ بِفَضْلِهِ إِلَى ‏ ‏أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏فَكَانَ ‏ ‏أَبُو أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏يَضَعُ أَصَابِعَهُ حَيْثُ يَرَى أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بِقَصْعَةٍ ‏ ‏فَوَجَدَ مِنْهَا رِيحَ ثُومٍ فَلَمْ يَذُقْهَا وَبَعَثَ بِهَا إِلَى ‏ ‏أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏فَنَظَرَ فَلَمْ يَرَ فِيهَا أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَلَمْ يَذُقْهَا فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَمْ أَرَ فِيهَا أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِكَ قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ مِنْهَا رِيحَ ثُومٍ قَالَ فَتَبْعَثُ إِلَيَّ بِمَا لَا تَأْكُلُ قَالَ إِنِّي يَأْتِينِي الْمَلَكُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏سَمِعْت ‏ ‏بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِنَا ‏ ‏يَقُولُ عَنْ ‏ ‏عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمَدِينِيِّ ‏ ‏قَالَ قَالَ ‏ ‏لِي ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ‏ ‏عِنْدَكَ حَدِيثٌ أَحْسَنُ مِنْ هَذَا وَأَجْوَدُ إِسْنَادًا مِنْ هَذَا قَالَ قُلْتُ مَا هُوَ قَالَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أُمِّ أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏نَزَلَ عَلَى ‏ ‏أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَ هَذَا حَدِيثَ الثُّومِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ نَعَمْ ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏نَزَلَ عَلَى ‏ ‏أَبِي أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏فَسَكَتَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet ﷺ found the smell of garlic, he did not taste the food. The man came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I did not see the traces of your fingers in it.' He said: 'I found in it the smell of garlic.' The man said: 'Then you send me what you do not eat.' He said: 'For a messenger comes to me.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏وَقِيلَ لَهُ أَكَانَ فِي رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏شَيْبٌ قَالَ ‏ ‏لَمْ يَكُنْ فِي رَأْسِهِ وَلَا فِي لِحْيَتِهِ إِلَّا شَعَرَاتٌ فِي مَفْرِقِ رَأْسِهِ إِذَا دَهَنَهُنَّ ‏ ‏وَارَاهُنَّ ‏ ‏الدُّهْنُ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was asked: 'Was there any grey hair in the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He replied: 'There was none in his head or beard except a few hairs in the parting of his head. When he oiled them, the oil would cover them.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏وَبَهْزٌ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏سِمَاكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ ‏ ‏بِالْحَرَّةِ ‏ ‏مَعَهُ أَهْلُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ إِنِّي أَضْلَلْتُ نَاقَةً لِي فَإِنْ وَجَدْتَهَا فَأَمْسِكْهَا فَوَجَدَهَا فَمَرِضَتْ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ ‏ ‏انْحَرْهَا ‏ ‏فَأَبَى فَنَفَقَتْ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ ‏ ‏قَدِّدْهَا ‏ ‏حَتَّى نَأْكُلَ مِنْ لَحْمِهَا وَشَحْمِهَا قَالَ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَأَتَاهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ ‏ ‏هَلْ لَكَ غِنًى ‏ ‏يُغْنِيكَ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَكُلُوهَا قَالَ فَجَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ أَلَا كُنْتَ ‏ ‏نَحَرْتَهَا ‏ ‏قَالَ اسْتَحَيْتُ مِنْكَ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said to another: 'I lost my she-camel. If you find it, keep it.' He found it and it became sick. His wife said to him: 'Slaughter it.' He refused. It died. His wife said: 'We have slaughtered it so we may eat its meat and fat.' He said: 'Until I consult the Prophet ﷺ.' He came to him and informed him. He said to him: 'Do you have something to suffice you?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Then eat it.' Its owner came later and said: 'Why did you not slaughter it?' He said: 'I was shy before you.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شَرِيكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏رَجَمَ يَهُودِيًّا وَيَهُودِيَّةً ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ carried out the stoning punishment on a Jewish man and a Jewish woman.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلُ ‏ ‏وَيَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ‏ ‏جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي الصَّلَوَاتِ كَنَحْوٍ مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمْ الَّتِي تُصَلُّونَ الْيَوْمَ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ يُخَفِّفُ كَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ أَخَفَّ مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمْ وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ ‏ ‏الْوَاقِعَةَ ‏ ‏وَنَحْوَهَا مِنْ السُّوَرِ ‏

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the prayers in a manner similar to your prayers today, but they were shorter.'
