حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ وَبَهْزٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ قَالَ أَبُو كَامِلٍ أَخْبَرَنَا سِمَاكٌ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ بِالْحَرَّةِ مَعَهُ أَهْلُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ إِنِّي أَضْلَلْتُ نَاقَةً لِي فَإِنْ وَجَدْتَهَا فَأَمْسِكْهَا فَوَجَدَهَا فَمَرِضَتْ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ انْحَرْهَا فَأَبَى فَنَفَقَتْ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ قَدّ
ِدْهَا حَتَّى نَأْكُلَ مِنْ لَحْمِهَا وَشَحْمِهَا قَالَ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَاهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ هَلْ لَكَ غِنًى يُغْنِيكَ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَكُلُوهَا قَالَ فَجَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ أَلَا كُنْتَ نَحَرْتَهَا قَالَ اسْتَحَيْتُ مِنْكَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Jabir ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said to another: 'I lost my she-camel. If you find it, keep it.' He found it and it became sick. His wife said to him: 'Slaughter it.' He refused. It died. His wife said: 'We have slaughtered it so we may eat its meat and fat.' He said: 'Until I consult the Prophet ﷺ.' He came to him and informed him. He said to him: 'Do you have something to suffice you?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Then eat it.' Its owner came later and said: 'Why did you not slaughter it?' He said: 'I was shy before you.'
