Hadith #386
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَانٌ الْعَامِرِيُّ عَنْ جَسْرَةَ بِنْتِ دَجَاجَةَ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ فَرَدَّدَهَا حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ { إِنْ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ }
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet دلوالله stood one night in prayer reciting a single verse, repeating it until dawn: "If You punish them, they are indeed Your servants; and if You forgive them, You are indeed the Almighty, the All-Wise." [Quran 5:118]
