حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ إِلَى أُحُدٍ فَرَجَعَ أُنَاسٌ خَرَجُوا مَعَهُ فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللّ
َهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِرْقَتَيْنِ فِرْقَةٌ تَقُولُ بِقِتْلَتِهِمْ وَفِرْقَةٌ تَقُولُ لَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { فَمَا لَكُمْ فِي الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ } فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهَا طَيْبَةُ وَإِنَّهَا تَنْفِي الْخَبَثَ كَمَا تَنْفِي النَّارُ خَبَثَ الْفِضَّةِ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Zaid ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Companions of the Prophet دلوالله were divided into two groups regarding the hypocrites — one saying to kill them and another saying not to. Allah revealed: "What is the matter with you that you are divided into two groups concerning the hypocrites?" [Quran 4:88]. The Messenger of Allah دلوالله then said: "Madinah is pure and it repels evil as fire repels the impurities of silver."
