Hadith #180
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ قَالَ قِيلَ لِأُسَامَةَ أَلَا تُكَلِّمُ هَذَا قَالَ قَدْ كَلَّمْتُهُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يُجَاءُ بِرَجُلٍ فَيُطْرَحُ فِي النَّارِ فَيَطْحَنُ فِيهَا كَطَحْنِ الْحِمَارِ بِرَحَاهُ
فَيُطِيفُ بِهِ أَهْلُ النَّارِ فَيَقُولُونَ يَا فُلَانُ أَلَسْتَ كُنْتَ تَأْمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَى عَنْ الْمُنْكَرِ فَيَقُولُ إِنِّي كُنْتُ آمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَلَا أَفْعَلُهُ وَأَنْهَى عَنْ الْمُنْكَرِ وَأَفْعَلُهُ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَحَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بِنَحْوٍ مِنْهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ زَادَ فِيهِ فَتَنْدَلِقُ أَقْتَابُ بَطْنِهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Usama ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was said to him: 'Why don't you speak to this man (Uthman)?' He said: 'I have spoken to him. I heard the Messenger of Allah ß say: "A man will be brought and thrown into the Fire. His intestines will pour out. He will go around them like a donkey goes around a millstone. The people of Hell will gather and say: "What happened to you? Didn't you order us to do good and forbid evil?" He will say: "I ordered you but did not do it myself, and I forbade you but did it myself.""'
