‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ‏ ‏أَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏طَاوُسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏رَجُلٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏جَعَلَ ‏ ‏الرُّقْبَى ‏ ‏لِلَّذِي ‏ ‏أُرْقِبَهَا ‏ ‏وَالْعُمْرَى ‏ ‏لِلَّذِي ‏ ‏أُعْمِرَهَا ‏

English Translation

It was narrated from Zayd ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ß said: 'The ruqba (conditional gift) belongs to the one who is given it conditionally, and the 'umra (life grant) belongs to the one who is given it for life.'
