Hadith #285
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُمْهَانَ حَدَّثَنِي سَفِينَةُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا ضَافَ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ لِعَلِيٍّ لَوْ دَعَوْتَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَكَلَ مَعَنَا فَدَعَوْنَاهُ فَجَاءَ فَأَخَذَ بِعِضَادَتَيْ الْبَابِ وَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا قِرَامًا فِي نَاحِيَةِ
الْبَيْتِ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ رَجَعَ قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ لِعَلِيٍّ الْحَقْهُ فَانْظُرْ مَا رَجَعَهُ قَالَ مَا رَدَّكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَيْسَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بَيْتًا مُزَوَّقًا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ بِمَعْنَاهُ قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِي أَوْ قَالَ لَيْسَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بَيْتًا مُزَوَّقًا

English Translation
It was narrated from Safina (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man was a guest of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and food was prepared for him. Fatima said to Ali: 'If only you would invite the Prophet ﷺ to eat with us.' So they invited him and he came. When he arrived he saw a decorated curtain and turned away. Safina was sent after him and informed Ali. Ali raised the curtain and the Prophet ﷺ entered and ate with them.
