English Translation

It was narrated from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by Hassan while he was reciting poetry in the mosque and glared at him. Hassan said: 'I used to recite here when there was someone better than you present.' Then he turned to Abu Hurayra and said: 'Have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: «O Hassan, reply on my behalf. O Allah, support him with the Holy Spirit.»?' Abu Hurayra said: 'Yes.'
