حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَمَرَتْهُ أُمُّهُ أَوْ أَبُوهُ أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا قَالَ شُعْبَةُ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ أَنْ يُطَ
لِّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَجَعَلَ عَلَيْهِ مِائَةَ مُحَرَّرٍ فَأَتَى أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ فَإِذَا هُوَ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى يُطِيلُهَا وَصَلَّى مَا بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ أَوْفِ نَذْرَكَ وَبَرَّ وَالِدَيْكَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الْوَالِدُ أَوْسَطُ بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ فَحَافِظْ عَلَى الْوَالِدِ أَوْ اتْرُكْ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man whose mother or father or both commanded him to divorce his wife set upon himself the obligation of freeing a hundred slaves if he did so. He came to Abu al-Darda' while he was praying and sat waiting. Abu al-Darda' then narrated a hadith from the Messenger of Allah ß regarding obedience to parents.
