حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَرِيزٌ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُمَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ حَوَالَةَ الْأَزْدِيِّ وَكَانَ مِنْ أ
َصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَيَكُونُ أَجْنَادٌ مُجَنَّدَةٌ شَامٌ وَيَمَنٌ وَعِرَاقٌ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِأَيِّهَا بَدَأَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ أَلَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ أَلَا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ فَمَنْ كَرِهَ فَعَلَيْهِ بِيَمَنِهِ وَلْيَسْقِ فِي غُدُرِهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَوَكَّلَ لِي بِالشَّامِ وَأَهْلِهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from ibn Hawalah al-Azdi (may Allah be pleased with him) — who was a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'There will be organized armies: Syria, Yemen, and Iraq — and Allah knows best which of them He will start with. But you must hold to Syria. You must hold to Syria. You must hold to Syria. Whoever does not want that, let him go to Yemen and draw water from its cisterns.'
