Hadith #304
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ حَرْمَلَةَ بْنِ إِيَاسٍ الشَّيْب
َانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ صَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَتَيْنِ سَنَةٍ مَاضِيَةٍ وَسَنَةٍ مُسْتَقْبَلَةٍ وَصَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Fasting the day of 'Arafah, I hope from Allah that it expiates the year before it and the year after it. And fasting 'Ashura', I hope from Allah that it expiates the year before it.'
