حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ صَالِحٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي حَسَّانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ فِي طَلِيعَةٍ قِبَلَ غَيْقَةَ وَوَدَّانَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ وَأَبُو قَتَادَةَ غَيْرُ مُحْرِمٍ فَإِذَا حِمَارُ وَحْشٍ فَطَلَبَ مِنْهُ
مْ سَوْطًا فَلَمْ يُنَاوِلُوهُ فَاخْتَلَسَ سَوْطَ بَعْضِهِمْ فَصَادَ حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا فَأَكَلُوهُ ثُمَّ لَحِقُوا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَالْأَبْوَاءِ قَالُوا إِنَّا صَنَعْنَا شَيْئًا لَا نَدْرِي مَا هُوَ فَقَالَ أَطْعِمُونَا

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him on a scouting expedition toward Ghayqah and Waddan, and while the companions were in a state of ihram, he — not being in ihram — hunted a wild donkey and brought it to them. They asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he permitted them to eat it.
