حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الصَّوَّافَ عَنْ يَحْيَى يَعْن

Body (Matn)

ِي ابْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي بِنَا فَيَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَتَيْنِ وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا وَكَانَ يُطَوِّلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى مِنْ الظُّهْرِ وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ وَكَذَلِكَ الصُّبْحُ

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lead them in prayer and would recite in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr and 'Asr with al-Fatihah and two surahs, letting them hear a verse occasionally. He would make the first rak'ah of Zuhr longer than the second.
