حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَغَيْرُهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى الْأَشْد
َقُ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ الْأَنْفَالِ فَقَالَ فِينَا مَعْشَرَ أَصْحَابِ بَدْرٍ نَزَلَتْ حِينَ اخْتَلَفْنَا فِي النَّفْلِ وَسَاءَتْ فِيهِ أَخْلَاقُنَا فَنَزَعَهُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى مِنْ أَيْدِينَا فَجَعَلَهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَسَمَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِينَا عَنْ بَوَاءٍ يَقُولُ عَلَى السَّوَاءِ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the verse {They ask you about the spoils of war} was revealed concerning the companions of Badr when they disputed about it, and Allah removed it from their hands and gave the decision about it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who divided it equally among the Muslims.
