حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى
اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَالْخَنْدَقِ وَهُمْ يَحْفِرُونَ وَنَحْنُ نَنْقُلُ التُّرَابَ عَلَى أَكْتَافِنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ لَا عَيْشَ إِلَّا عَيْشُ الْآخِرَةِ فَاغْفِرْ لِلْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at al-Khandaq (the trench). They were digging and we were carrying the earth on our shoulders. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, there is no life except the life of the Hereafter, so forgive the Muhajirun and the Ansar.'
