Hadith #520
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِشَرَابٍ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ غُلَام
ٌ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ الْأَشْيَاخُ فَقَالَ لِلْغُلَامِ أَتَأْذَنُ لِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَقَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا أُوثِرُ بِنَصِيبِي مِنْكَ أَحَدًا قَالَ فَتَلَّهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي يَدِهِ
English Translation
It was narrated from Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that a drink was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he drank from it. To his right was a young boy and to his left were the elders. He asked the young boy: 'Do you permit me to give these elders?' The boy said: 'No, by Allah — I will not give my share from you to anyone.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed it in his hand.
