English Translation
It was narrated from a man from the tribe of Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd that he said: 'I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ wearing a gold ring. He struck my palm with a stick and said: Throw it away! I went out and threw it away. Then I returned and he asked: What happened to the ring? I said: I threw it away. He said: I only commanded you to make use of it — not to throw it away.'
