English Translation

It was narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever gives respite to a debtor in hardship, he will have the equivalent of charity for every day."' Then I heard him say: '"Whoever gives respite to a debtor in hardship, he will have double the equivalent of charity for every day."' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I heard you say: "he will have the equivalent of charity for every day," then I heard you say: "he will have double the equivalent of charity for every day."' He said: 'He will have the equivalent of charity for every day before the debt is due. When the debt is due and he still gives respite, he will have double the equivalent of charity for every day.'
