It was narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent them on a military expedition. When they returned, he said: 'How did you find the companionship of your commander?' Buraidah said: 'Either I complained about him, or someone else complained.' He said: 'I raised my head — and I was a man who used to look down — and there was the Prophet ﷺ with his face reddened, saying: "Whoever has me as his guardian, 'Ali is his guardian."'

It was narrated from Buraidah al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'One day I went out for a need, and there ahead of me was the Prophet ﷺ walking. He took my hand and we walked together. Ahead of us was a man praying with many bowings and prostrations. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Do you think he is showing off?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He released my hand, then joined his hands together and moved them up and down, saying: "Hold to the middle path! Hold to the middle path! Hold to the middle path! For whoever contends with this religion, it will overcome him."'
