English Translation

It was narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not take bad omens from anything. But when he intended to visit a woman, he would ask about her name — if it was pleasant, joy could be seen on his face; if it was ugly, that would show on his face. When he sent a man on a mission, he would ask about his name — if his name was good, joy could be seen on his face; if it was unpleasant, that would show on his face.
