حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي شَيْبَانَ عَنْ لَيْثٍ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْأَنْصَارِيُّ صَاحِبُ بُدْنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَ
نَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا بَعَثَهُ قَالَ رَجَعْتُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا تَأْمُرُنِي بِمَا عَطِبَ مِنْهَا قَالَ انْحَرْهَا ثُمَّ اصْبُغْ نَعْلَهَا فِي دَمِهَا ثُمَّ ضَعْهَا عَلَى صَفْحَتِهَا أَوْ عَلَى جَنْبِهَا وَلَا تَأْكُلْ مِنْهَا أَنْتَ وَلَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ رِفْقَتِكَ

English Translation
It was narrated from the Ansari companion who was in charge of the Prophet's ﷺ sacrificial animals that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him, he returned and asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, what do you command me to do about those that become exhausted?' He said: 'Slaughter it, then dip its sandal in its blood, place it on its flank or side, and do not eat from it...'
