حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ صَبَّاحٍ عَنْ أَشْرَسَ قَالَ سُئِلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ الْمَدِّ وَالْجَزْرِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مَل
َكًا مُوَكَّلٌ بِقَامُوسِ الْبَحْرِ فَإِذَا وَضَعَ رِجْلَهُ فَاضَتْ وَإِذَا رَفَعَهَا غَاضَتْ و قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ صَبَّاحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَشْرَسَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مِثْلَهُ

المد والجزر فقال إن مل
English Translation
It was narrated from Ashras that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the tides. He said: 'An angel is assigned to the depths of the sea. When he puts his foot in it, it overflows. When he lifts it, it recedes.'
