حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ ثَابِتِ ابْنِ وَدِيعَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي فَزَارَةَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِضِبَابٍ قَدْ احْتَرَشَهَا قَالَ فَجَعَلَ يُقَلِّبُ ضَبًّا مِنْهَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ أُمَّةٌ مُسِخَتْ قَالَ وَأَ
كْبَرُ عِلْمِي أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَا أَدْرِي مَا فَعَلَتْ قَالَ وَمَا أَدْرِي لَعَلَّ هَذَا مِنْهَا و قَالَ شُعْبَةُ سَمِعْتُهُ و قَالَ حُصَيْنٌ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ وَذَكَرَ شَيْئًا نَحْوًا مِنْ هَذَا قَالَ فَلَمْ يَأْمُرْ بِهِ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ أَحَدًا

English Translation
It was narrated from Thabit ibn Wadi'a that a man from Banu Fazara came to the Prophet ﷺ with lizards he had hunted. He began turning one over in front of the Prophet ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ said: 'A community that was transformed.' He then said: 'To the best of my knowledge he said: "I do not know what became of it" — and: "I do not know, perhaps this is from them."' Hudhayfa narrated something similar from his own transmission and added that the Prophet ﷺ neither commanded nor forbade eating them.
