حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ حَدَّثَنَا السَّفْرُ بْنُ نُسَيْرٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا فِي شَ
رٍّ فَذَهَبَ اللَّهُ بِذَلِكَ الشَّرِّ وَجَاءَ بِالْخَيْرِ عَلَى يَدَيْكَ فَهَلْ بَعْدَ الْخَيْرِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ مَا هُوَ قَالَ فِتَنٌ كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ يَتْبَعُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا تَأْتِيكُمْ مُشْتَبِهَةً كَوُجُوهِ الْبَقَرِ لَا تَدْرُونَ أَيًّا مِنْ أَيٍّ

English Translation
It was narrated from Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we were in evil, then Allah removed that evil and brought good through you. Is there evil after this good?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'What is it?' He said: 'Trials like the darkness of night, one following another, coming upon you as alike as the faces of cows — you will not know one from another.'
