حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَوْقٍ عَطِيَّةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا مُخْمِلُ بْنُ دِمَاثٍ قَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاص
ِ قَالَ فَسَأَلَ النَّاسَ مَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمْ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَنَا صَلَّى بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ رَكْعَةً وَطَائِفَةٌ مُوَاجِهَةَ الْعَدُوِّ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ أَصْحَابِهِمْ مُوَاجِهُو الْعَدُوِّ وَجَاءَتْ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ فَكَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَانِ وَلِكُلِّ طَائِفَةٍ رَكْعَةٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from Mukhmil ibn Dimaths that he said: 'I went on a military expedition with Said ibn al-As. He asked the people: "Who among you witnessed the Fear Prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" Hudhayfa said: "I did." He described how the Prophet ﷺ led one group in one rak'ah while another group faced the enemy, then those who had prayed went to face the enemy in place of their companions, and the other group came and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in one rak'ah.'
