حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ فَ
تْحُ مَكَّةَ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ رَأَيْتُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَنَعْتَ الْيَوْمَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَصْنَعُهُ قَالَ عَمْدًا صَنَعْتُهُ يَا عُمَرُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the Day of the Conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed wudu and wiped over his leather socks. 'Umar said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, I saw you do today something you had not used to do.' He said: 'I did it deliberately, O 'Umar.'
