English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you goes to the toilet, let him not face the qibla and let him not turn his back to it — rather, face east or west.' Abu Ayyub said: When we came to Syria, we found seats that faced the qibla, so we would turn away from them and seek forgiveness from Allah the Exalted and Glorified.
