حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ حَدَّثَنَا زُبَيْدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْيَامِيُّ عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَزَلَ بِنَا وَن
َحْنُ مَعَهُ قَرِيبٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ رَاكِبٍ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ وَعَيْنَاهُ تَذْرِفَانِ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَفَدَاهُ بِالْأَبِ وَالْأُمِّ يَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَكَ قَالَ إِنِّي سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي الِاسْتِغْفَارِ لِأُمِّي فَلَمْ يَأْذَنْ لِي فَدَمَعَتْ عَيْنَايَ رَحْمَةً لَهَا مِنْ النَّارِ وَإِنِّي كُنْتُ نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ عَنْ زِيَارَةِ الْقُبُورِ فَزُورُوهَا لِتُذَكِّرَكُمْ زِيَارَتُهَا خَيْرًا وَنَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْأَضَاحِيِّ بَعْدَ ثَلَاثٍ فَكُلُوا وَأَمْسِكُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ وَنَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ الْأَشْرِبَةِ فِي الْأَوْعِيَةِ فَاشْرَبُوا فِي أَيِّ وِعَاءٍ شِئْتُمْ وَلَا تَشْرَبُوا مُسْكِرًا

English Translation
It was narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'We were with the Prophet ﷺ when he stopped with us — we were about a thousand riders — and he prayed two rak'ahs, then turned to face us with tears flowing from his eyes. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab stood up and offered his father and mother as ransom, saying: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the matter?" He said: "I asked my Lord, the Almighty, for permission to seek forgiveness for my mother and He did not permit me. So my eyes wept out of mercy for her, away from the Fire. I had forbidden you from three things: from visiting graves — now visit them so that they remind you...'"
