حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ وَاضِحٍ أَخْبَرَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ فَجَاءَتْ جَارِيَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللّ
َهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ نَذَرْتُ إِنْ رَدَّكَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى سَالِمًا أَنْ أَضْرِبَ عَلَى رَأْسِكَ بِالدُّفِّ فَقَالَ إِنْ كُنْتِ نَذَرْتِ فَافْعَلِي وَإِلَّا فَلَا قَالَتْ إِنِّي كُنْتُ نَذَرْتُ قَالَ فَقَعَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَضَرَبَتْ بِالدُّفِّ

English Translation
It was narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from one of his military expeditions, and a black slave-girl came and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I had vowed that if Allah returned you safely, I would play the tambourine over your head.' He said: 'If you made the vow, then do it; otherwise, do not.' She said: 'I did make the vow.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down and she played the tambourine.
