حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ دَخَلَتْ عَلَيْهَا يَهُودِيَّةٌ اسْتَوْهَبَتْهَا طِيبًا فَوَهَبَتْ لَهَا عَائِشَةُ فَقَالَتْ أَجَارَكِ اللَّهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ قَالَتْ فَوَقَ
عَ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِلْقَبْرِ عَذَابًا قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنَّهُمْ لَيُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ عَذَابًا تَسْمَعُهُ الْبَهَائِمُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a Jewish woman came and asked her for a gift of perfume, and Aisha gave it to her. The Jewish woman said something that troubled Aisha. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, and Aisha mentioned it to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there punishment in the grave?' He said: 'Yes, they are punished in their graves with a punishment that the animals can hear.'
