حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى فِي مَرَضِهِ وَهُوَ ج
َالِسٌ فَصَلَّى وَخَلْفَهُ قَوْمٌ قِيَامًا فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنْ اجْلِسُوا فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا وَإِذَا صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا

English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet ﷺ sat and prayed while behind him people were praying standing. He gestured to them to sit. When he finished the prayer, he said: 'The imam is appointed to be followed. When he bows, bow; when he rises, rise; and when he prays seated, pray seated.'
