Hadith #145
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُهُمْ بِمَا يُطِيقُونَ فَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّا لَسْنَا
كَهَيْئَتِكَ قَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ فَيَغْضَبُ حَتَّى يُرَى ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ قَالَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَأَتْقَاكُمْ لَهُ قَلْبًا

English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the companions said to the Prophet ﷺ: 'We are not like you — Allah has forgiven all your past and future sins,' he would become angry until the anger was visible on his face, then say: 'By Allah, I am the most knowledgeable of you about Allah and the most God-fearing of you at heart.'
