English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to give one of his daughters in marriage, he would sit near her curtain and say: 'So-and-so has proposed for so-and-so' — naming her and the man. If she stayed silent, he would give her in marriage; and if she disliked it, she would tap the curtain, and if she tapped it, he would not give her in marriage.
