حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَزْمٍ أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ جَاءَتْ امْرَأَةٌ وَمَعَهَا ابْنَتَانِ لَهَا تَسْأَلُنِي فَلَمْ تَجِدْ عِنْدِي شَيْئًا غَيْرَ تَمْرَةٍ وَاح
ِدَةٍ فَأَعْطَيْتُهَا إِيَّاهَا فَأَخَذَتْهَا فَشَقَّتْهَا بِاثْنَيْنِ بَيْنَ ابْنَتَيْهَا وَلَمْ تَأْكُلْ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا ثُمَّ قَامَتْ فَخَرَجَتْ هِيَ وَابْنَتَاهَا فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَدَّثْتُهُ حَدِيثَهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ ابْتُلِيَ مِنْ الْبَنَاتِ بِشَيْءٍ فَأَحْسَنَ إِلَيْهِنَّ كُنَّ لَهُ سِتْرًا مِنْ النَّارِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a woman came to her with her two daughters asking for charity. Aisha had nothing but a single date, which she gave her. The woman split it between her two daughters without eating any herself. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in, she told him. He said: 'Whoever is tested with daughters and treats them well — they will be a shield for him from the Fire.'
