Hadith #422
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُبَارَكٌ عَنْ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ فَقُلْتُ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَخْبِرِينِي بِخُلُقِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
قَالَتْ كَانَ خُلُقُهُ الْقُرْآنَ أَمَا تَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ } قُلْتُ فَإِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَبَتَّلَ قَالَتْ لَا تَفْعَلْ أَمَا تَقْرَأُ { لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ } فَقَدْ تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ وُلِدَ لَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when asked about the character of the Prophet ﷺ, she replied: "His character was the Quran. Do you not read the Quran: the word of Allah the Almighty: 'And indeed you are of a great moral character'?" She also advised one who wished to remain celibate: "Have you not read: 'There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern'? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married and had children."
