Hadith #229
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ قَالَ ثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ أَنَّهُ إِذْ حُضِرَ قَالَ أَدْخِلُوا عَلَيَّ النَّاسَ فَأُدْخِلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَاتَ لَا
يُشْرِكُ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَمَا كُنْتُ أُحَدِّثُكُمُوهُ إِلَّا عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ وَالشَّهِيدُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ عُوَيْمِرٌ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ فَأَتَوْا أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ أَخِي وَمَا كَانَ يُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِهِ إِلَّا عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Whoever does not associate anything with Allah — Allah places him in Paradise. I used to tell this to you only at the point of death." The witness to this is Abu al-Darda. They came to Abu al-Darda and he said: "My brother spoke the truth — he used to tell you it only at the point of his death."
