Hadith #40
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُجَالِدٌ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ قَيْسٍ قَالَتْ طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي
ثَلَاثًا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي سُكْنَى وَلَا نَفَقَةً وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا السُّكْنَى وَالنَّفَقَةُ لِمَنْ كَانَ لِزَوْجِهَا عَلَيْهَا رَجْعَةٌ وَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ عِنْدَ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ الْأَعْمَى
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Fatima bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her) that her husband divorced her with a triple divorce. She went to the Prophet ﷺ and he did not grant her accommodation or maintenance. He said: "Accommodation and maintenance are only for the one whose husband has the right to take her back." And he ordered her to spend her waiting period with Ibn Umm Maktum, the blind man.
