حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ أَمْلَاهُ عَلَيْنَا بِبَغْدَادَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ ب
ْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ سَعَادَةِ ابْنِ آدَمَ اسْتِخَارَتُهُ اللَّهَ وَمِنْ سَعَادَةِ ابْنِ آدَمَ رِضَاهُ بِمَا قَضَاهُ اللَّهُ وَمِنْ شِقْوَةِ ابْنِ آدَمَ تَرْكُهُ اسْتِخَارَةَ اللَّهِ وَمِنْ شِقْوَةِ ابْنِ آدَمَ سَخَطُهُ بِمَا قَضَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

English Translation
It was narrated from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Part of the happiness of the son of Adam is seeking guidance from Allah (istikhara). And part of the happiness of the son of Adam is his contentment with what Allah has decreed. And part of the misery of the son of Adam is his abandoning istikhara, and part of the misery of the son of Adam is his discontent with what Allah has decreed.'
