حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ أُسَامَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يِسَافٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ظَالِمٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ و
َسَلَّمَ فِتَنًا كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ أُرَاهُ قَالَ قَدْ يَذْهَبُ فِيهَا النَّاسُ أَسْرَعَ ذَهَابٍ قَالَ فَقِيلَ أَكُلُّهُمْ هَالِكٌ أَمْ بَعْضُهُمْ قَالَ حَسْبُهُمْ أَوْ بِحَسْبِهِمْ الْقَتْلُ

English Translation
Sa'id ibn Zayd (رضي الله عنه) said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned tribulations like patches of dark night' — I think he said: 'in which people will perish most rapidly.' It was said: 'Will all of them perish, or only some?' He said: 'Killing will suffice them — or is enough for them.'
