حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ قَالَ أَقْطَعَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَرْضَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَذَهَبَ الزُّبَيْرُ إِلَى آلِ عُمَرَ فَاشْتَرَى نَصِيبَهُ مِنْهُمْ فَأَتَ
ى عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ زَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْطَعَهُ وَعُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَرْضَ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَإِنِّي اشْتَرَيْتُ نَصِيبَ آلِ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ جَائِزُ الشَّهَادَةِ لَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ

English Translation
'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf (رضي الله عنه) said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted me and 'Umar ibn al-Khattab land in such-and-such a place. Al-Zubayr went to the land of Khaybar and cultivated his share, but I did not cultivate mine. When 'Umar became caliph, he said to me: Will you go to your land and cultivate it? I said: I have no need of it, so 'Umar took it.'
