English Translation
'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Sadaqah narrated to us, Abu 'Imran narrated to us, Qays ibn Zayd narrated to me, from the Judge of the Two Cities, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr (رضي الله عنهما), that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah will summon the debtor on the Day of Resurrection until he is stood before Him, and it will be said: O son of Adam, for what did you take on this debt, and for what did you squander the rights of people? He will say: O my Lord, You know that I took it but I did not eat from it, nor drink, nor wear, nor waste it; rather it was lost at my hands through either fire, or theft, or business loss. Allah (عز وجل) will say: My servant has spoken the truth. I am the most deserving of settling your debt today. Then Allah will call for something and place it on the pan of his scale, and his good deeds will outweigh his bad deeds, and he will enter Paradise by the bounty of His mercy.'
