حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ حَدَّثَنِي خُصَيْفٌ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ طَافَ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بِالْبَيْتِ فَجَعَلَ مُعَاوِيَةُ يَسْتَلِمُ الْأَرْكَانَ كُلَّهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لِمَ تَسْتَلِمُ هَذَيْنِ الرُّكْنَيْنِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَلِمُهُمَا فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ مِنْ الْبَيْتِ مَهْجُورًا فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ { لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ } فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ صَدَقْتَ

English Translation
Marwan ibn Shuja' narrated to us, Khusayf narrated to me, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas, that he performed tawaf with Mu'awiyah around the House. Mu'awiyah kept touching all the corners, so Ibn 'Abbas said to him: "Why do you touch these two corners when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not touch them?" Mu'awiyah said: "Nothing of the House should be neglected." Ibn 'Abbas said: "'There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ an excellent example' [33:21]." Mu'awiyah said: "You have spoken the truth."
