حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَا

لِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَضْرِبُ بِإِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى وَهُوَ يَقُولُ الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا ثُمَّ نَقَصَ أُصْبُعَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Sa'd narrated from his father Sa'd (رضي الله عنه) who said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us striking one hand against the other, saying: The month is like this, and this — then he folded one finger on the third time [indicating twenty-nine days].'
