English Translation
'Abdullah ibn Muhammad narrated to us — 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad said: and I heard it from 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad — 'Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Ya'qub ibn 'Utbah, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما): the Prophet ﷺ confirmed Umayyah (ibn Abi al-Salt) in some of his poetry. He recited: "A man, and a bull beneath his right foot, and an eagle for the other, and a watchful lion." the Prophet ﷺ said: "He spoke the truth." And he recited: "And the sun rises at the end of every night, reddish, its color becoming rosy. It refuses to rise for us at its ease, except being tormented and lashed." the Prophet ﷺ said: "He spoke the truth."
