حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ هُوَ ابْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَمَّارٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيمَا يَرَى النَّائِمُ بِنِصْفِ النّ
َهَارِ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ أَشْعَثَ أَغْبَرَ بِيَدِهِ قَارُورَةٌ فِيهَا دَمٌ فَقُلْتُ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا هَذَا قَالَ هَذَا دَمُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ لَمْ أَزَلْ أَلْتَقِطُهُ مُنْذُ الْيَوْمِ فَأَحْصَيْنَا ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ فَوَجَدُوهُ قُتِلَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ

English Translation
'Affan narrated to us, Hammad — he is Ibn Salamah — narrated to us, 'Ammar informed us, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: I saw the Prophet ﷺ in a dream in the middle of the day. He was standing, disheveled and dusty, holding a bottle in which there was blood. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is this?' He said: 'This is my blood and the blood of al-Husayn and his companions. I have been collecting it since today.' 'Ammar said: We counted and found that al-Husayn (رضي الله عنه) was killed on that day.
