English Translation

Hasan ibn Musa narrated to us, Abu Khaythamah narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Uthman ibn Khuthaym, from Abu al-Tufayl, who said: I saw Mu'awiyah performing tawaf around the House, with 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas on his left side, and I was following behind them, hearing their speech. Mu'awiyah kept touching the corner of the Black Stone (and the other corners). Ibn 'Abbas said to him: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not touch these two corners (the Shami and Iraqi corners)." Mu'awiyah would say: "Leave me alone, O Ibn 'Abbas, for none of it (the Ka'bah) should be abandoned." But Ibn 'Abbas would not cease; every time Mu'awiyah placed his hand on one of those two corners, he would say the same to him.
