حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ كَانَ خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ وَرِقٍ، وَكَانَ فَصُّهُ حَبَشِيًّا‏.‏

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that “The signet ring of the Prophet ﷺ (Allah bless him and give him peace) consisted of silver, and its stone was Abyssinian.”

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، فَكَانَ يَخْتِمُ بِهِ وَلا يَلْبَسُهُ‏.‏

Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that "the Prophet ﷺ (Allah bless him and give him peace) chose a signet ring of silver, so he used to seal with it, and he would not wear it.”

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ هُوَ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ كَانَ خَاتَمُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، فَصُّهُ مِنْهُ‏.‏

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that “The signet ring of the Prophet ﷺ (Allah bless him and give him peace) consisted of silver, including its stone.”

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ لَمَّا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى الْعَجَمِ قِيلَ لَهُ‏:‏ إِنَّ الْعَجَمَ لا يَقْبَلُونَ إِلا كِتَابًا عَلَيْهِ خَاتَمٌ، فَاصْطَنَعَ خَاتَمًا، فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِهِ فِي كَفِّهِ‏.‏

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that “When Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) wished to write to the non-Arabs, he was told: ‘The non-Arabs will not accept a letter unless it bears a seal.’ He therefore created a signet, and I can see its whiteness in the palm of his hand.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ كَانَ نَقْشُ خَاتَمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏:‏ مُحَمَّدٌ سَطْرٌ، وَرَسُولٌ سَطْرٌ، وَاللَّهُ سَطْرٌ‏.‏

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that “The inscription engraved on the signet ring of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was: Muhammadun forming one line, Rasulu forming one line, and Allahi forming one line.”

حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ أَبُو عَمْرٍو، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَتَبَ إِلَى كِسْرَى وَقَيْصَرَ وَالنَّجَاشِيِّ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ‏:‏ إِنَّهُمْ لا يَقْبَلُونَ كِتَابًا، إِلا بِخَاتَمٍ، فَصَاغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، خَاتَمًا حَلْقَتُهُ فِضَّةٌ، وَنُقِشَ فِيهِ‏:‏ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ‏.‏

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that "the Prophet ﷺ (Allah bless him and give him peace) wrote to Chosroes, Caesar and the Negus, whereupon he was told: 'The non-Arabs will not accept a letter unless it bears a seal.' Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) therefore cast a signet which had a silver ring, and on which was engraved; “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، وَالْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاءَ نَزَعَ خَاتَمَهُ‏.‏

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that "When the Prophet ﷺ (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered the toilet, he used to remove his signet ring.”

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ‏:‏ اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ، فَكَانَ فِي يَدِهِ ثُمَّ كَانَ فِي يَدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَيَدِ عُمَرَ، ثُمَّ كَانَ فِي يَدِ عُثْمَانَ، حَتَّى وَقَعَ فِي بِئْرِ أَرِيسٍ، نَقْشُهُ‏:‏ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ‏.‏

Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that “Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) chose a signet ring of silver, so it was in his possession. Then it was in the possession of Abu Bakr and the possession of 'Umar. Then it was in the possession of 'Uthman, until it fell into the well of Aris. Its engraved inscription was: ‘Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
