أبو إسحاق الشيرازي
Shaykh
Ibrahim ibn Ali al-Shirazi (393–476 AH / 1003–1083 CE) was the foremost Shafi'i scholar of Baghdad in his age. He was appointed the first head of the famous Nizamiyya madrasa in Baghdad by the Seljuk vizier Nizam al-Mulk in 459 AH. His monumental work al-Muhadhdhab fi Fiqh al-Imam al-Shafi'i became one of the most important Shafi'i legal texts, later commented upon by Imam al-Nawawi in his famous al-Majmu'. He was also a master of legal theory (usul al-fiqh), writing al-Luma' and al-Tabsirah. Known for his extraordinary piety and legal acumen, scholars from across the Islamic world sought him out. He helped train a generation of jurists who would carry the Shafi'i school forward.
