AbuAyyub al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, whose full name was Khalid ibn Zayd ibn Kulayb al-Khazraji, was one of the most honored companions of the Prophet ﷺ. Upon the Prophet's ﷺ arrival in Medina after the Hijrah, his camel was allowed to go where it would, and it stopped at the home of AbuAyyub. The Prophet ﷺ lived in his house for approximately seven months while the mosque and his residences were being built — a privilege that brought AbuAyyub and his family immense honor. He participated in the Battle of Badr, Uhud, and nearly all major campaigns. He was known for his deep love of the Prophet ﷺ and his dedication to worship and jihad well into old age. He continued joining military expeditions throughout his life and died near Constantinople during a campaign around 52 AH, having spent decades in the path of Allah. The location where he died and was buried remained a revered site. He narrated numerous hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ on a wide range of topics. His narrations are preserved in all six major hadith collections.
