al-Ghazali
أبو حامد الغزالي
Biography
Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali al-Tusi, known as Hujjat al-Islam (Proof of Islam), was one of the most influential Muslim theologians, philosophers and mystics of the medieval period. He studied and taught at the Nizamiyya of Baghdad before a spiritual crisis led him to abandon his prestigious post. His most famous work, Ihya Ulum al-Din (Revival of the Religious Sciences), attempts to reconcile orthodox Islamic theology with spiritual refinement. Note: His more mystical works require contextual reading.
